7 Minutes

If you have ever been in a near-death experience, you may have seen your life “flash” before your eyes. I’ve asked several people about this. They said that it was like they went through their whole life in a second. That’s not too far fetched. Your brain likes to avoid stress, so that it does not have to deal with facing death. So if your brain was to think you were going to die, it would go to the easiest way to escape: memory. So when it comes close to the end, your brain turns on every memory you ever had.

The brain will also stay alive for about 7 minutes after you die, provided your brain is intact. So if you have 7 minutes and you can experience your whole life in one second, that’s 60 lives per minute. 420 lives in 7 minutes. That’s a lot of time and a lot of experiences with death.

I’m sorry, I don’t understand. Does it imply that the reader may be living through a memory at the moment?

  • Commented on August 15, 2013 at 12:34 am

I think it means that your current life might actually be one of those ‘lifetime’ memories and that would mean that you are currently in the process of dying. I think it’s a cool thing to think about especially because there is at least some truth in it.

Why is this so low rated? This is a really good pasta.

  • Commented on September 27, 2013 at 2:46 am

    I like the idea

  • Commented on October 9, 2013 at 5:22 am

It’s got a solid concept. It could maybe be improved by clarifying the intent a bit.

  • Commented on October 13, 2013 at 4:43 pm

I agree with danatblair and Nick; I like the idea but perhaps some clarification as to why you’re telling us this, or maybe even adding in a character who is going through it may spice it up a little. *Shrug* But as aforementioned, it’s quite lovely. I’d never thought of that. :3

  • Commented on April 1, 2014 at 11:56 am

Is this meant to be creepy? It sounds like something out of a science book 😛

This pasta brings up some interesting thoughts.
What if déjà vu is actually just our mind messing up the playback?

  • Commented on August 3, 2014 at 10:49 am

I think what he is saying is that perhaps 1 person has multiple lives therefore seven minutes of seperate live in different times

  • Commented on August 8, 2014 at 12:13 pm

Is it killing us, and thinking about the beauty of it?

  • Commented on August 17, 2014 at 11:32 pm

It used to be cats had more lives than humans, but now humans have more lives than cats? Awesome! Cats, step aside 9 lives ain’t going to get you anywhere anymore, us people have 420!

I love pastas like this. They really chill my bones and cause me to question the very makeup of the universe. This one especially is very well written and well executed. 9.7/10. Great pasta!

  • Commented on April 6, 2015 at 12:37 pm

That is 50%/100% accurate. How is this supposed to creep me out? No offence because the information such as – Grammar, Capitals and etc, were quite good. The only problem was the story-line. It may revolve around death, and the information was very questionable. In my personal opinion, I just feel that it was too short and didn’t give me enough time to get”pastied” lol

  • Commented on April 6, 2015 at 8:56 pm

I had to scroll for hours to get to the “leave a comment” thing and now I’m finally here :O. Anyways, I think this is a really great pasta I love it 😀

If you “experience” a new life every second, even if in your supposed “present” life you experience 420 other lives, you have to die at some point in those other lives as well, and so on. So it’s a neverending life loop, and that basically means that you’re immortal. But at the same time, your brain will stop functioning after about seven minutes. This pasta pretty much states that we are forever living, but only until your “original” life ends. But there is also no way to know whether or not your “original” life is really the original, because it could just be the product of an earlier dying mind. The more you think about it, the more confusing it gets. Brilliant paradox, I would put it right up there with “This statement is false”.

  • Commented on May 6, 2015 at 3:55 pm

This I have to say is bad because it’s not creepy……but good science 😉

  • Commented on May 13, 2015 at 7:06 am

    Really makes you think.
420 lives what happens when you die in one of those 420 lives? Are there 420 lives in each of those deaths?
By this theory are we not somewhat immortal?

  • Commented on May 14, 2015 at 6:12 pm

I’ve seen a story similar to this. It’s interesting how if this whole thing. Me commenting right now is just a memory. And you reading this comment is also just a memory and you might be laying in the middle of the street from being it by a car, or even have been stabbed and on the verge of death and the only thing you can cling to it your memory of reading this.

    Good story btw 10/10

  • Commented on May 17, 2015 at 4:59 am

I have two theories to base off this:
    1. Maybe we are actually going through our lives 420 times, but we don’t perceive it as so.
    2. We see our lives over the course of seven minutes, but it feels like a second due to the fact that under certain conditions, our brains perceive time differently. Like when you close your eyes to sleep, but when you wake up it feels like a couple of minutes passed.

Commented on May 19, 2015 at 3:40 am

The whole theory behind the 420 lives is in 1 second you will remember 60 memories so in turn if you die and your brain stays intact for 7 extra minutes you would practically relieve 420 memories.

  • Commented on June 15, 2015 at 10:35 pm

  • Commented on June 24, 2015 at 9:45 am

Though I like the concept of this CreepyPasta, I feel this is more an introductory paragraph than a story in and of itself.

  • Commented on August 31, 2015 at 9:07 pm

Did not find this creepy or paranormal at all. Simply a statement of what happens in your mind at the point of death.

  • Commented on January 3, 2017 at 2:51 am

Is it implying that if i gone to a near death experience. It means that all memories from the moment i have written this comment and the moment i readed this story is a memory that i am remembering from the moment that i am dying XD. This story should be rated high!

  • Commented on January 10, 2017 at 10:39 pm

not creepy at all but interesting and really short

  • Commented on January 13, 2017 at 5:12 pm

This one really did give me a mindfuck sort of feel towards the end.

I wasn’t sure if I was keeping pace throughout the pasta, But the ending, In my opinion atleast was definitely worth the little read.

It really doesn’t feel like the story is leading up to that one moment, but at the same time it kind of does.

This story does something to your mind that I love copypastas doing that just leave you in a state of mindfuck statue-still reconsideration and this copypasta definitely did justice.

    A great read.

It is so weird… it kind of proves a theory I have where your energy transfers into another one’s soul. a soul is just the energy that keeps the body moving. very interesting.

  • Commented on December 4, 2017 at 6:44 pm

this remind s me of a theory me and my brother thought about, our life flashes before our eyes when we die, but who says we are currently experiencing that flash, deja vu when you realize all this happened before. I recently moved into a new house, but i remember being in the place long before.

although it mayfeel like a second, its like a dream. for you the second is true, but for everyone else, it would be like you were asleep for maybe 3-4 mins. so really, that 7 mins could just be one life time. 10/10 pasta, would definitely recomend to all readers.
