Regarding Pending Submissions

Hey everyone, it’s be a while since I’ve posted some news here!

For the past few months you guys have been sending me a lot of emails asking about when your submissions will be reviewed, which is understandable. Right now, the reviewing system is really slow, and it takes way too long before new submissions are being reviewed. There have also been cases of people abusing the reviewing system to gain influence and sabotaging the whole process…

I just wanted to let you guys know that I will be updating the website and the reviewing system somewhere in the next few months. I will also be adding all the promised features that are listed in the first news post called “New Website!”.

After the website has been updated I will send out an email to everyone that has a submission in queue for reviewing. You will then have to follow the instructions in that email to make sure that your submission is not deleted. This will hopefully clear the submission queue of junk submissions and will allow for even faster reviewing.

I hope this clears up some questions for all of you!

Thanks for the suggestions! I will probably add the most requested features first and then later add additional stuff that you all might like 🙂

can you tell me how the review system works because I cannot get how it works.
its either not easy to read or i am just stupid 😛

My influence hasd the color of orange or yellow maybe until it became 40 and red again, I’ll still contribute by reviewing pastas.

  • Commented on April 17, 2016 at 3:28 pm

Please also try to add help section and a setting for changing username.

  • Commented on April 20, 2016 at 8:35 pm

Awesome! For a while I actually thought my story would just remain forever in the abyss of forgotten submissions. Now I’m relieved. 🙂

  • Commented on April 21, 2016 at 6:55 pm

I was wondering wtf was going on…apparently someone with an influence of 3000 is just trollin ‘cos I know my submissions are good, lol.

  • Commented on April 23, 2016 at 12:42 pm

Oh ok. I’m a new creepypasta writer with my very first submission waiting to be reviewed. I really want to get some opinions on it. Also, you should have competitions on this website. You’ll be able to use the New and Updates part more

As a person who reviews mostly, I am not sure if this suggestion would be as helpful for other people who want to give feedback, but a important part (I feel) that is missing in the editing points is a way to give positive or negative feedback as far as – good idea, bad execution of reveal, or well-written but idea needs work…( a “when did I start to lose you” section or a “tone down the rape-snuff fantasy” check box).
I don’t know if people realize that they sometimes mis-categorize existing creepy-pastas as original pieces or if people accidentally resubmit a story months later while still missing the point of why it was largely ‘rejected’ in the first place, like a inappropriate tense change or missing tag.
Sometimes, I read really awesome stories and I have no way of explaining why I have to reject them, and there is no accounting for taste, or people resubmit the same story without knowing exactly what it was they needed to fix. I know comment sections are kind of troll zoos, but something like that could be helpful to both the authors and editors if formed respectfully in editing. I love this virtual space and really enjoy reading everyone’s work. Thank you.

  • Commented on April 26, 2016 at 12:02 pm

I apologize if my suggestions are redundant. I kind of go into a reviewing hole sometimes and wish I could give helpful feedback and encouragement to most of the writers.
I like so many here, thought that my one and only pasta was pretty awesome, but it took a year to be reviewed and I know what some of the problems with it were now, but have always been hesitant to resubmit it as I am sure there are just some problems with it that I as the writer of it, am blind to. (run on sentences, perhaps?)
As a slave to detail, it is hard to convey the larger picture with out a notes section.
Anyway, I have nothing but admiration for the writers, reviewers and readers of this site. I am so glad to have been able to do one thing, reasonably well, and that is read such a variety of short stories and help some of them make it through to the library wall. You all are my cyber sanctuary. Stay Spooky.

  • Commented on April 30, 2016 at 7:43 pm

A suggestion that I have is that there should be more sections. It takes a LONG time new pastas to be submitted on the home page. So something that could improve that is a “Recommended for you” section, based off of tags and authors read by that user. Also, there could be a “trending section,” and “most viewed.” This would add more variety and make the website more used than just every month by people who simply read the best pastas.

Regarding what you said about emailing everyone that has a submission in queue for reviewing.
You could make that into a feature, in the way that when you make a submission, then there’ll appear a button that you can press, say maybe once every third day, and if pressed, then you’ll be pushed a bit further ahead in the queue.

I know I’m a little late with this comment but I’d really love to see a chat feature. Keep up the good work Admin!

  • Commented on May 5, 2016 at 9:04 am

Was definitely very confused with what was going on. Thank you for a better clarification of why submissions were not being reviewed. Especially since my 2nd submission has received influence but my 1st and 3rd haven’t.

I don’t know if you can or not, but I think that it would be a great idea to be able to look up users in the search box.

I only hope the reviewing system is fixed. I’ve been waiting a couple of months, and all four of my submitted stories are still under pending.

  • Commented on June 26, 2016 at 3:36 pm

I joined this site yesterday evening and, honestly, I love it. I haven’t come across any glitches (YET) but if I do, I will repost them. Also, I love all the stories on here and the freedom you get.

  • Commented on August 1, 2016 at 3:34 am

  • Commented on August 14, 2016 at 2:15 pm

great, I have over 13 submissions pending and ONLY ONE HAS BEEN REVIEWED!!!!!!! so overall this is great news.

  • Commented on September 2, 2016 at 4:55 pm

I have a submission, but it is still pending review. I posted it a few months ago with nothing new. Is there anything wrong with the reviewing system?

  • Commented on September 12, 2016 at 8:18 pm

there have been a few incidents where im just reviewing them and it will randomly say im trying to cheat the system so idk why its doing that i was just trying to get some more stories out there

  • Commented on September 13, 2016 at 8:49 pm

I submitted my Creepypasta “The Night I Couldn’t Sleep” after the update and It has not been reviewed yet… Is there a reason?

  • Commented on September 24, 2016 at 6:57 am

Another idea is to suggest a ban – for when someone posts the same (usually terrible) pasta like 5+ times in a row or keeps posting troll pastas. To be reviewed by the admins/owner.

  • Commented on September 25, 2016 at 5:18 am

This still hasn’t been fixed. A new pasta posted less than once a week is way too slow. Should be as many as submitted at least every other day. There is ONE GUY reviewing and it has a new one almost every day and has VERY high standards. I also wonder if there is a clique just rejecting everything. I accepted some really good ones and was at 1000 influence. None were posted and I actually lost influence (this was never mentioned as a possibility.)

  • Commented on October 6, 2016 at 4:32 am

Hope the updating of the website are going well for you and the problems of reviewing creepypastas are being taken care of as well. Can’t wait for the new features. <3 <3 <3

  • Commented on October 15, 2016 at 4:02 am

oh…so…uploading a story has a delay until its reviewed…hmm..ok then…i wish i had known this before the 15 minutes i spent searching the tags that i put on my story hoping i can find it..i mean..its still just five minutes 😀

  • Commented on November 22, 2016 at 2:38 pm

I think that there should be a way that writers can get together and make two creepypastas one.

(the creepypastas are belong to the people who get together.)

  • Commented on November 30, 2016 at 9:35 pm

This seems like a cool site. I shall use it while I’m off Wattpad

  • Commented on December 4, 2016 at 2:51 am

    Dear Admin,

Perhaps when reviewing there can be an option where the reviewer can write a note to the author? If they struggled on certain grammar mistakes we can tell them what he/she needs to work on. Or we can use the comment option to give suggestions of how they can improve ( make their next story scarier)? I hope you consider this.

    With all due respects,

  • Commented on December 5, 2016 at 1:22 am

Ok, how is my two stories STILL pending?

  • Commented on December 7, 2016 at 1:35 am

Could someone please review my pasta? XD

  • Commented on December 7, 2016 at 9:39 am

I read the info and so I understood that I would need to be patient, yet it’s still nice to know that my submissions have a chance. I feel so much better now. May not after review, but for now there is hope. Group hug anyone? Ok, yea that is a bit creepy. Well may all your dreams be twisted, rude and creepy sweet.

  • Commented on December 10, 2016 at 7:59 pm

So it’s been 10 months…is everything okay boss? Need some help over there? I’m eager to have a half decent resource for pasta since other sites are kinda (very) lame. I ain’t gettin’ any younger, heah!

  • Commented on February 2, 2017 at 6:47 am

Ok my story “Cyber Meat” has been up for over a week and hasn’t had a single review. I’m wondering if the system has made it so noone has seen it or if noone reviews.

  • Commented on February 22, 2017 at 5:43 pm

I know this is an old news update, but I just submitted my own story this week, so when should I expect some reviews?

  • Commented on February 27, 2017 at 10:26 pm

Now in 2017 how much time we have to wait to have our stories submitted?

  • Commented on March 13, 2017 at 3:05 am

My submission, Hypothermia, has been up for weeks, and has not been reviewed, when will someone review it for me?

  • Commented on March 13, 2017 at 2:11 pm

Admin, I love how you work with this website. It gives me a peace of mind to just write a story and hope that I spook someone with it. I am sorry for some of the stories being spammed, though. That was by accident.

  • Commented on March 30, 2017 at 12:45 am

The suggesting for a explaination option in the reviewing system sould become a MANDATORY requirement for rejecting anyone’s summited creepypasta along side with a chance to chat back and forth with the reviewer and the reviewed. I feel it would seriously tone down the “feelings of sething vengeance” for having a creepypasta rejected. I do understand it may lead to aggressive conflicts with some of the lesser mentally grown few but for the most part it could allow users to actively correct errors and flaws as well as prevent them from reappearing in later suggestions, thus further releaving the otherwise unnesessary aggravation created by Grammer Nazi reviewers who for the most part could actually do more good if such consequences as a crippling blow to their alloyed influence along with a heavy restriction on gaining it back. And I am sure if there are users so spend hours for this site asking for volunteers to settle and act as middlemen for you wouldn’t hurt either. A simple chain of command style minions for you glorious bidding.

Hi, I have to tell you something I noticed, which isn’t a glitch, but more of a notice.

I noticed that, with the “reviewing stories” feature, you have limited options as of what to point out, such as, if someone has a fantastic story, with punctuation and everything, but in the ending the main character gets raped and beaten to death, with hardcore detail, we would have to reject it, due to the rape. Now, us, reviewers, can’t bluntly say “YOUR STORY HAS RAPE!”, we have to stick to the fact that we have to choose from buttons, that, the admins, designed and had the writing on them chosen. What I’m saying, is that we need to be able to point out EXCACTLY why someone’s story is a crappypasta.

Reviewer: Hm, I clearly have to reject this story because this story uses no punctuation or grammar what so ever, not to mention, It uses text language. But, hm.. how can I tell the author that they use text language and have zero grammar? I only have the option to point out that the punctuation is shit. What should I do?

Now, if we had the option to comment on the story when we review it, and not when it’s actually published, that would save authors plenty of effort and time, and would make it easier for them to improve the stories they publish.

I just wondered, it seems really rare for new pastas to be posted, is everything still live or have I come to an abandoned site? Shame if it’s not still running as it’s a great setup & im enjoying reading through everything.,. I’m afraid I’m going to run out!

Considering I’ve had 2 stories in “pending” for a bit over a year now, that must be some serious slow-down. Oh, the perils of popularity.

Is there going to be an updated and detailed FAQ about what review scores mean? Or how they are calculated? It’s all very mystifying and the existing FAQ is quite uninformative. If a story starts with 0/1000 before its first review, how are any points scored?

  • Commented on September 2, 2017 at 1:30 am

Website Works great. Just want to tell my story with people who might understand StarGate

  • Commented on September 10, 2017 at 6:03 pm

I must agree with vishussvixen and others that the review system would benefit greatly from a little well-placed expansion. I am a short-story writer, but do not bring that up in an attempt to gain any special influence. I DO mention it, however, as I have been on the receiving end of a great deal of editorial input.

One of the reasons I enjoy reviewing these works is because I love the art of short fiction and find it fulfilling to try and help new writers. This would be made much more helpful with some additional categories. I have read many pastas that were brilliantly conceived stories that nonetheless wound up rejected due to things that aren’t fully described by the “wide brush” application of the review guidelines. It doesn’t take much for the “Accept” option to be removed. In addition, it would be nice to let a writer know WHY I felt a story was “incomplete” or how little it would take to make it truly creepy or frightening.

Lastly, perhaps a beneficial section of the site might be an Advice column, a section where established writers or those with a certain amount of pastas successfully submitted could help others avoid common pitfalls or become more polished writers.

Thank you for your consideration and thank you for this site! – Rushsinger

I’ve been trying to help.bae are good but have a lot of spelling and grammar errors. Sometimes I let them slide. But if I see the words “or so I thought…” Instant rejection
I have seen the phrase hundreds (literally) of times and it is so oooo tired.

I submitted a story almost a year ago now, and it appears to have 4,000 out of 1,000 points, so im not sure why it hasnt been added yet. Two of my other stories have been rejected however, Rather disappointing.

I love this website it gives me millions of horror stories every day, I submitted my own story and I’m just glad your getting things fixed. I like to review stories but I think you should add a way to comment on the review so you could say stuff like ” I think you should work on grammer”. I also think you should make it so you could rate the stories that you are revewing like 1-5 stars with an option for half stars thank you!
